Home Infusion Therapies
What We Offer
We offer a wide variety of IV infusion therapies in the comfort of your own home, including:
Anti-Infective
Anti-infective therapy can include antibiotic, antifungal, or antiviral treatments. This therapy is one of the most prescribed home infusion therapies that can be safely managed in the home. Long-term anti-infective therapy can treat a variety of diagnoses including: Abscesses, Bacteremia, Cellulitis, Chronic Urinary tract infections (UTI), Cystic fibrosis, Endocarditis, Lyme disease, Osteomyelitis or Endocarditis.
Enteral Nutrition
Enteral nutrition (tube feeding) is a therapy that provides nutrients to people who cannot get enough nutrition through eating. Enteral nutrition is a liquid formula that can be given directly into the stomach or small bowel through various tubes. Feeding methods include continuous or intermittent via pump or bolus through a syringe or gravity bag. Your doctor will prescribe the appropriate feeding method for the formula to be given. Maintaining optimal nutrition can be vital during periods of illness.
Hydration
IV fluids provide hydration directly into the bloodstream for immediate absorption to the body. It will help replace a patient who cannot take enough fluid by mouth or who are losing extra fluid through an ostomy, vomiting or diarrhea.
Immunoglobin (IVIG)
Immune globulin is a tested and safe solution made from human plasma containing antibodies which can be given intravenously (IVIG) or through the subcutaneous tissue (SCIG). This therapy is used to protect patients whose bodies are unable to fight infections.
Pain Management
Patient-controlled Analgesia (PCA) Pumps is a type of pain management that lets the patient decide when a dose of the pain medicine will be given. The pump can be set to deliver a small, consistent flow of pain medication. Pain management can be provided in the home or with a palliative care team. Pain management can be provided intravenously or subcutaneously.
Total Parenteral Nutrition
TPN supplies all daily nutritional requirement sneeded for a patient that has a condition that significantly impairs absorption of nutrients or has a severe motility disorder. Total Parenteral Nutrition is given intravenously, unlike enteral nutrition which is given through a tube.
TPN may be the only feasible option for some patients who do not have a functioning GI tract or patients with certain diagnoses requiring complete bowel rest, such as bowel obstruction, short bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, or pancreatitis.
MedPlus Infusion Pharmacy offers 24/7 access to pharmacists, registered nurses, and registered dietitians specifically trained to administer, teach, and manage infusion therapies. Our goal is to provide an easy, safe, and patient-friendly alternative to hospitalization.
